A Walgreens pharmacy is recalling all of its prescription medicine for potential irritants.
New York, New York, November 22, 2020 ( penspezil):Walgreens, New York: Retail pharmacies and wholesalers of prescription medicines in New York confirmed that they have received a recall of a common medicine containing an ingredient known as “Nexium 24HR,” which is used to treat heartburn and acid reflux (heartburn).
The recall is being issued by Walgreens, New York, New York, on Friday, November 22nd, and will be posted on the New York State’s Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) website, as well as on the Walgreens Web site at

“As a result, the retail pharmacy was recalled on the basis of an increased risk of stomach bleeding with a possible increased risk of bleeding related to Nexium 24HR,” the New York attorney general’s office said in a press release.
“Nexium 24HR, which is used to treat heartburn and acid reflux, is an antacid that may contain aluminum, magnesium, or calcium. As a precaution, the label of all recalledWARNINGS include that you should not use any other prescription drug, nonprescription drug, or herbal preparation if you have stomach ulcers or acid reflux disease (such as GERD). You should not take any other prescription drug, nonprescription drug, or herbal preparation if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. You should not use this medicine if you have a history of stomach bleeding, ulcers, or acid reflux disease,” the release reads.
“The recall of this product is also a result of the potentially dangerous interaction of the product with an ingredient known as the PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor). The combination of Proton Pump Inhibitor and Nexium 24HR has the potential to cause a severe and potentially fatal stomach bleeding, a condition known as stomach bleeding when used with other prescription drugs,” the company’s statement said.

Nexium 24HR has been available since May 2020 in the United States and Canada for over a year.
The recall is being issued by Walgreens, New York, on Friday, November 22nd, and will be posted on the New York State’s Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) website, as well as on the Walgreens Web site at
Walgreens was the manufacturer of the prescription medicine used to treat heartburn and acid reflux (the product is known as Nexium 24HR).
The recalled product has a boxed warning from the FDA, which was added to the product labeling in August 2020.
The FDA also identified two separate recalls of the “Nexium 24HR” drug, and the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also recalled the product, after an investigation found that the prescription drug had an increased risk of heart attack or stroke.
The recalled product was also recalled in Canada, the U. and Japan for containing the active ingredient esomeprazole, which is used to treat stomach and esophagus problems.
The product is available without prescription at the lowest effective dose possible.
